碩士 / 國立高雄應用科技大學 / 觀光與餐旅管理系 / 98 / The purpose of this study was to explore the causal relationships between serious leisure and recreation specialization using the recreational scuba diving as an example. This study used a questionnaire-based survey by judgment sampling & snow ball sampling recreational scuba divers in July 25, 2009 to December 15, 2009 at main diving spots scattering in Northern and Southern of Taiwan. A total of 243 valid questionnaires were collected with valid rate of 67.5%. The questionnaire with three parts includes serious leisure with six dimensions, recreational specialization with three dimensions and basic personal information. This study used descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, item analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling analysis.
The results showes that: (1) The serious leisure measurement model is confirmed, as a result of the confirmatory factor analysis, 6 potential variables with 54 measurement items have been reduced to 6 potential variables and 25 measurement items. (2) The recreation specialization measurement model is confirmed, as a result of the confirmatory factor analysis, 3 potential variables with 17 measurement items have been reduced to 3 potential variables and 12 measurement items. (3) The relationship between serious leisure and recreation specialization is positive and significant.
