碩士 / 龍華科技大學 / 電子工程研究所 / 98 / In the past, hand drawings and photomontages are frequently used to demonstrate a developing yacht in yacht’s publicities. However, the processes of the photomontage are very complicate. Besides, consumers may not understand the yacht because the photomontages are not realistic enough. This is disadvantaged for the orders. Thanks to the rapidly improvement of computer graphic technologies in recent years, computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, are employed to demonstrate three-dimensional geometry of yachts. Unfortunately, the CAD software focus on geometric design. They do not have sufficient functions in esthetic and visual effects, such as texture mapping, lighting, etc. It makes that the consumers can understand the hull form and the general arrangement only. Detail esthetic information, such as the decoration materials and the livings on the yacht are not presented in the publicities. Nowadays, realistic computer graphic (CG) images of yacht are applied in some publicities. The CG images are generated by advertising agencies or studio using art designing software, such as 3ds Max and Maya. The realistic CG images increase the persuasiveness of the publicities but also increase the cost.
In the present paper, a render system designed for yacht industry is developed using MAXScript language in 3ds Max. The render system is divided into eight major functions, includes objects state list, import file, group, material setting, ocean setting, daylight system, cameras setting, and render setting. Realistic CG images of yacht can be easily obtained through simple configurations. Basic 3ds Max knowledge is the only requirement to operate this system. According to the result tested in the present paper, the parameter settings and the operation processes can be reduced by 83.4% after this render system is applied. The rendering operation is significantly simplified. With the realistic CG images created by this system, the yacht builder and the consumer can understand the yacht before it is finished. Although the system is develop for yacht industry, the same technology can be applied in many field, such as car industry, construction industry, and so on.
