碩士 / 銘傳大學 / 管理學院高階經理碩士學程 / 98 / With the increasing of the number of financial product and with financial holding companies following the strategies of aggressive expansion, internationalization and diversification, the evaluation of the risk rating, and external control for the these financial holding companies are becoming the more important issue. Since the outbreak of subprime mortgage crisis in 2007 and the following financial recession in 2008, banks in Taiwan have received the negative impact more or less. So financial holding and nonfinancial holding companies in Taiwan to handle these crises and whether different management efficiency in these companies tends to bring different operating results are worth to study. The research is to discuss the correlation between company governing and operating results for financial and nonfinancial holding companies under the impact of financial crisis since 2008.
In this study, we focuses on the variation from 2007 through 2009, with the attempt to construct and explain the variation model based on different governing styles for listed financial holding companies and nonfinancial holding companies.The OPERATING RESULT is measured with financial ratios such as EPS, ROA and ROE. On the other hand, the COMPANY GOVERNING is measured with variables such as 1. Stock holding structure: Including holding proportion of the board, major shareholders and executives. 2. Board structure: including the scale of the board, number of supervisors, existence of independent director and number of seat held by shareholders. 3. Information revelation: including Big Four’s visa and lnstitutional ownership to foreign ownership. The variables are collected from different databases—Taiwan Economy Journal, Annual Reports of all companies, Market Observation Post System.
