A Case Study on Container Yard Wireless Sensor System / 無線感測貨櫃碼頭系統建置之個案研究

碩士 / 國立中央大學 / 資訊管理學系碩士在職專班 / 98 / Taiwan’s international trade relies fully on sea and air transport, and is mostly concentrated on sea transport. Therefore, it plays a major role on Taiwan’s economy and foreign trade development. Due to Taiwan’s geographically advantageous position in Asia, containers transshipment is becoming the major trend for Taiwan’s port development. Taiwan will serve to strengthen its logistic activities, improve container loading and unloading capacities, in order to maintain its international competitive advantage.
This case study owns to explain how those business companies at the pies have effectively made use of creative new technologies such as Zigbee and wireless Sensor Networks. These wireless communication systems help to identify and track cargo will improve the automation process of port activities, and push it to its highest efficiency and competitiveness. This case study has forecast a single company to understand how the company operates under their automation and wireless systems to track container movement. It also identifies the problems, difficulties and restriction the company faces, and the advantages after using this system. Last but not least, the conclusion of this study serves to combine all the implementation experience for further users. In addition, upgrade advice and the blueprint for future study are provided.
