碩士 / 國立嘉義大學 / 森林暨自然資源學系研究所 / 98 / This study is applied to six-year-old coastal protection forest on land subsidence zone in Chianan. The sampling method is used to random samples for coastal land subsidence zone 15 coastal protection forests to representation samples of Chiayi and Tainan. Each sample is 10 m×20 m, equivalent to 0.02 ha. This study uses factor analysis and discriminate analysis to construct of health indicators protection forest. These indicators are used to predict tree health conditions. They also allow us to better understand the health of newly planted trees within the coastal protection forest on land subsidence zones of Chianan.
This analysis identified the coastal subsidence of Chianan adaptive region, the influence of four factors:1. crown vigor, 2. foliage vigor, 3. update capability, and 4. harm indicator. These four factors can account for 77 % of the total variance. Thus these four factors are good measure of forest and tree health. Applying these results to the Annangangsi I samples shows the trees to be very unhealthy, Dongshih-aogu B and Anpinghaikou N samples show moderately unhealthy trees and the rest of the samples show mildly unhealthy to healthy trees. Investigation of soil conductivity in the Dongshih-aogu B area of Chiayi and the Anpinghaikou N sample of Tainan City showed the highest conductivity levels. The cause for this should be investigated as to its impact on tree growth with the goal to monitor and improve the situation in the future.
This study has shown that it is possible to use discriminate analysis for the coastal subsidence zone as a means of predicting tree health within Chianan. Not only provide insight in evaluating tree health but also lead to more objective and effective tree conservation and forest management.
