The Case Study of the Sheet Pile Wall Deformation in Onshore Soft Ground Excavation / 近海軟弱地盤開挖之版樁變形案例探討

碩士 / 國立嘉義大學 / 土木與水資源工程學系研究所 / 98 / In the past decade, most large-scale public works in Taiwan have adopted methods of deep foundation (such as pile foundation) design. Therefore, the construction process of the structure foundation should be performed by deep excavation. In general, the sheet pile wall usually uses as retaining support in order to resist lateral earth pressure. However, with the deeper excavation, it will be more difficult in construction. In addition, the variation of the field’s environment, such construction process is more difficult than it was.
This study would like to take an example of one bridge construction project which located in the offshore of Budai fishing pot in Chiayi County. For the unexpected erosion of the soil around the sheet pile wall, the sheet pile head occurred an extremely and dangerously deformation. Hence, this research can be divided into three phases:1. the process and situation of soil erosion around the sheet pile; 2. The use of numerical analysis method for feedback analysis; 3.Follow-up improvement measures. Regarding to the numerical method, the finite element method (FEM) program PLAXIS is used to perform the analysis the stability of the sheet pile wall. As to the discussing about the construction process, the original construction and design will be reviewed and check. Meanwhile, in order to strengthen the support, the data of monitoring in situ would be compared to the result of numerical analysis.
The result of this study shows that the maximum deformation of the sheet pile head is 954.79 mm by using the numerical analysis. In addition, strengthen with the H-beam could improve the situation of the exceeding deformation less than 558 mm in situ. Hence, proposed method could indeed restrain the unexpected deformation for erosion cause. In future, this study case can be the reference of the similar case to reduce the risk the construction process, lowering the time and cost wasting.
