Studies on distribution, age-growth and reproduction of Coelorinchus formosanus and C. kishinouyei in the southwest water off Taiwan / 台灣西南海域台灣腔吻鱈及岸上氏腔吻鱈之分布、年齡成長與生殖之研究

碩士 / 國立東華大學 / 海洋生物多樣性及演化研究所 / 98 / Macrouridae are widespread benthopelagic fishes in the deep-seas of the world. With a total of 27 genera 394 species worldwide and at least 19 genera 71 species in Taiwan, the fish are dominant components of deep-sea fish community in terms of both quantity and biomass. In comparison of the many studies on biology and ecology for the macrourids in the world, less was known in Taiwan. Species diversity, size composition and depth distribution of macrourids as well as age-growth and reproductive biology of the predominant species were studied by monthly bottom trawling collection in depth of <350 m in the southwestern waters off Taiwan between June 2008 and May 2009. Four genera and 8 species macrourids, namely Coelorinchus cingulatus, C. formosanus, C. kishinouyei, C. leptorhinus, Hymenocephalus longiceps, Lucigadus nigromarginatus, Ventrifossa macroptera and V. nigrodorsalis were recorded in this area. Among them, Coelorinchus formosanus (CF) of 683 individuals (accounting 51.05% of the total catch) and 253 (18.91%) C. kishinouyei (CK) were the first two predominant species. Mean pre-anal-fin lengths (±SD) of the fish were 89.4±17.7 mm in CF and 66.5±10.4 mm in CK, respectively. Depth ranges of the two species were 180-340 m and both distributed as larger size as deeper. Spawning seasons were in whole year around for CF and winter to spring for CK. The asymptotic pre-anal-fin length, growth coefficient, growth performance index and longevity of the fish were 156.65 mm, 0.12 yr-1, 3.46 and 24.92 yr for CF and 87.37 mm, 0.23 yr-1, 3.25 and 12.20 yr for CK, respectively.
