碩士 / 國立東華大學 / 電機工程學系 / 98 / While sailing in the endless ocean, no wonder that the vessel captain does have to fully know well the vessel’s heading direction, voyage distance and vessel’s position anywhere, anytime. For this reason, most of the vessels are installed with “vessel velocity log” or shortly “log” that indicates vessels’ velocity and records voyage milage. Of course, this equipment is not only important for commercial or fishing vessels, warships doubtless have nonetheless necessity for the log.
The subject of this thesis is to develop a calibrating instrument for the velocity indicator of a log system. We expect this instrument is able to provide adequate signal at demanded velocity level for calibration purpose. Thereafter, even though the ship is standstill in harbor, this calibrating instrument can be applied to correct or fix the under water log system. The benefit of this instrument is that the ship does not have to sail simply for the purpose of maintaining the under water log. The time and expenditure cost can be greatly reduced by the application of this proposed instrument.
