Distribution and composition of larval fish communities around the waters of Kinmen, wester Taiwan Strait / 金門沿近海域仔稚魚群聚結構分析

碩士 / 國立高雄海洋科技大學 / 海洋生物技術研究所 / 98 / For more completely understanding the distribution and composition of larval fish communities in the waters around Kinmen Islands, western Taiwan strait, this study collected the samples by using three various fishing gears and analyzed with the methods of cluster analysis and index of communities from January to November, 2008.
The results revealed that the larval fish community consist of 56 taxa in 39genera and 31 families. Among these taxa, thirteen families, Ambassidae, Apogonidae, Belonidae, Clupeidae, Engraulidae, Gerreidaem, Gobiidae, Mugilidae, Percichthyidae, Sillaginidae, Sparidae, Sphyraenidae, and Tetradontidae, were with higher frequency of occurrence, even though the mean density of each species and occurence of species was different in various gears. The assemblages of fish larva mainly distributed in eastern and western waters adjacent to Kinmen Islands and most aboundance in May, August, September, and October. Two groups of larval fish communities were identified, which consitent with the period of rainfall of Kinmen in 2008. In rainy season from June to October, the diversity of fish larva had increased owing to runoff of Kinmen islands mixed with warm surface water brought by the current of South China Sea and southernwest trade wind. However, the abounance and the number of species of fish larva had gradually decreased due to the impact of the northeast monsoon brought cool and low salinity water of Oyashio in dry season from November to May of next year.
