Study of Feasibility on Set-net Fishery with Marine Cage Culture Combining Recreational Fishery in Matsu / 馬祖地區發展定置網結合箱網養殖及海上平台複合式休閒漁業之可行性研究

碩士 / 國立高雄海洋科技大學 / 漁業生產與管理研究所 / 98 / This research surveys the “eastern sea area of Baisha Village,Beigan Township, Matsu Islands” and studies the feasibility of planning multi-purpose seaside leisure platforms combining set-net fishing and marine cage aquaculture in this area. Results of this research together with advices are expected to be presented, as reference, to related authorities for developing marine tourist and recreational industry and to operators for management in the future.
Sea area survey, questionnaire, SWOT, and TOWS were adopted for this research. The results are as follows:
I. According to surveys and analysis, the topography, substratum,
and the sea current direction and velocity, salinity, water
temperature and nutrients at the seabed are either in normal
conditions or within standard measurement scale, which proves the
area an ideal place for construction of seaside platform, and
application of combining set-net fishing and marine cage culture.
However, defensive measures should be enhanced because of the
impact of typhoons and northeast monsoons on Matsu Islands.
II.As questionnaire analysis shows, at present, fishery industry at
Matsu Islandsare facing severe damages. Among them, “resources
destroyed by fishing boats from the Mainland China due to
insufficient coast patrol manpower” was identified as the most
serious damage. Regardung the fisheries development in the region
the first priority should be given to “searching for suitable sea
areas for developing eco-tourism and recreational fishery
featured with Matsu fishery characteristics”.
III.According to SWOT and TOWS research results, emphasis should be
placed on promoting local tourism, building market mechanism for
fishery products, training professional tourist guides, improving
automation equipment, streamlining production and marketing
processes, enhancing ocean environment protection, and
diversifying in the traditional fishery.
In conclusion, this research chose a sea area between Baisha Village of Beigan Township on Matsu Islands and east of Keli Islet to plan a fishery operation for both business and tourism purposes. In addition, as this planned fishery operation is located at the water area near the Banli Beach recreational area designed by the Tourism Bureau of Lienchiang County Government, it will help boost eco-tourism and development of fishery-related industries for Matsu Islands in the future.
