碩士 / 國立臺南大學 / 台灣文化研究所碩士班 / 98 / This study aimed to investigate the situation of development and the interactive relationship between people and space along Luerhmen Creek, located in the border area of An-Nan District in Tainan City. Based on the four different periods of time, four domains, including political & social affairs, industry & economy, local development, and education, culture, & belief were involved for the research.
Because of the big changes in the geographical landscape along Luerhmen Creek at the end of Chin Dynasty, the human & cultural environment and the settlement development were influenced greatly. The Luerhmen area used to be a place for temporary break and a military base before the Tai-jiang became a land deposit. Later in 1823 and 1871, this area attracted immigrators from neighborhoods to develop uncultivated land again because of the floods of Tseng-wen River.
Since the instability of downstream in Tseng-wen River, the immigrators faced the threats of floods and had to move the villages. In 1938, the embankment of Tseng-wen River finally brought the people there a stable living environment, also resulting in the combination of the districts of the north and south of Luerhmen Creek. Luerhmen Creek fell out of the upper stream and functioned only for regional drainage.
After War World Two, traditional agricultural and fishing landscape, remote districts, inconvenient transportation made the area of Luerhmen Creek was not considered in the plans of city renovation and urban planning for a long time. Until the fill-up of fish ponds and salt pans, and the development of Tainan Technology Industrial Park, this area started to attract labors and become industrialized gradually. In the future, with the promotion of Technology Industrial Park and Tai-jiang National Park, Area of Luerhmen Creek is able to show the vitality.
