碩士 / 國立臺灣師範大學 / 華語文教學研究所 / 98 / This thesis attempts to formulate principles for applying task-based activities to Chinese teaching materials for overseas Chinese children based on qualitative research methods, such as content analysis and naturalistic observation, including questionnaires and interviews.
  This paper consists of a brief introduction followed by five chapters. The introduction presents the background, motivation and aim for this study; and it defines the important terms. Chapter Two is devoted to child development, social constructivism, the significance of interaction and a discussion of TPR and task-based language teaching. Chapter Three describes the research methods and procedures used in this study. Chapter Four analyzes the current state of teaching materials and Chinese language curricula in the Philippines. Chapter Five formulates principles for applying task-based activities to Chinese teaching materials aimed at overseas Chinese children and then provides an example of teaching materials based on task-based language teaching. In Chapter Six, a general conclusion for the entire thesis is presented and lastly, suggestions for further research are offered.
