The analysis of catch fluctuations of Lutjanus species in southeastern waters of Taiwan / 台灣東南海域五種笛鯛屬之漁獲變動分析

This research investigated 5 species: Lutjanus argentimaculatus, L. fulvus, L. gibbus, L. rivulatus, L. stellatus at Xin Gang fish market, Taitung since July 2004 to June 2008. Analysis of the annual catches, the most abundant species is the L. rivulatus 13411 individual; secondly L. gibbus to 11884 individual (1475: 1941: 1832: 3560: 3076); then L. fulvus to 9999 fishes; L. stellatus to 2183 individual; L. argentimaculatus to 548 individual. The species with heaviest caught weight is L. rivulatus about 7990.9 kg; secondly L. fulvus about 3419.3 kg; then L. gibbus about 3013.1 kg; L. argentimaculatus about 2894.8 kg; L. stellatus about 2336.5 kg. In the annual numbers of the individual for landing, except the L. argentimaculatus maintains between 83~158, the other four species have the tendency to upwards. In the annual total weights for landing, L. fulvus, L. gibbus and L. rivulatus have the tendency to upwards, but L. argentimaculatus and L. stellatus differs not in a big way. No significant different was found in the annual total weight, but the average of body weight has the tendency to downwards. The individual at indicated that miniaturization has happeneal. We examine seasonality of five Lutjanus species with SIk and SDk by ANOVA, with which the long term changes of catch. According to the determined seasonality of fish, the five Lutjanus species can be caught year round in this study. But the catches appear massively in April ~ September. Catches and the monthly average temperature is related, when the monthly average temperature is low and the catches will decease obviously.
