Maintenance Management and Application of Optical Fiber Attached to Sewage Piping System - An example of Taipei City / 污水下水道系統附掛光纖之維護管理與應用探討―以臺北市為例

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 河海工程學系 / 98 / Due to the constant improvement and innovation of information and communications technology and the increase of frequency range demands, countries all over the world are actively establishing the information infrastructure of optical fiber. Since Taipei City is restricted by the many underground utility pipes and heavy traffic, it is difficult to execute underground construction work. After evaluation, by attaching optical fiber to sewage piping systems, the cost of digging can be saved, public infrastructures can be activated and optical fiber building progress can be sped up. However, an issue worth discussing is whether the follow-up maintenance management of combining two different forms and functional properties of sewage piping systems and optical fibers mutually impede and affect or mutually benefit.
In this study, the pre- and post-maintenance management of sewage piping systems and optical fibers are discussed. Moreover, the trial of attaching optical fibers to sewage piping systems in Taipei City is applied as an example for illustrating related techniques, construction matters and construction management operation methods, thus as the reference for promoting the attachment of optical fibers in sewage piping systems in the future. Furthermore, the value-added beneficial result of applying optical fibers in sewage piping systems is discussed. The results showed that by applying the transmission property of optical fiber and the conveniency of its attachment to sewage piping systems, unusual change of water levels in sewage piping system systems can be fully monitored, and monitoring bases will no longer be restricted by the location and installation conditions. By preventing heavy rain, sewage overflowing to the roads or back up flow caused by blocked lines, the quality of maintenance management can be enhanced and calamity damages can be reduced.
