Studies on the fisheries biology of Synagrops philippinensis in surrounding waters of Guei-Shan Island, northeastern Taiwan / 臺灣龜山島海域產菲律賓尖牙鱸 Synagrops philippinensis 之漁業生物學研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋事務與資源管理研究所 / 98 / Fisheries biology of Synagrops philippinensis in surrounding waters of Guei-Shan Island, northeastern Taiwan was examined base on samples collected between Oct. 2008 and Sept. 2009. In total, 1287 males, 1311 females, and 63 undifferentiated individuals were collected. Fish size ranged from 5.0 to 10.4 cm in length, and 1.12 to 13.27 g in weight. The body weight - total length relationships was different between sexes, and was BW = 0.0082TL3.128 for male, and BW = 0.007TL3.2301 for female. The S. philippinensis may spawn all year round, with a peak occurred between June and Feb. The fecundity of the species ranged from 5,635 to 11,976, with a mean of 7,933 ± 1,469. The batch fecundity was between 1,326 and 4,546, with a mean of 2,279 ± 898. The sex ratio was found no difference in most of months except for Jan., Feb., and Aug. The condition factor (CF) for both sexes were higher between July and Dec., and lower between Jan. and May. The hepatosomatic index (HSI) also was higher for both sexes from June to next Jan., but lower in other months. These patterns indicated that energy reserve of the species was higher during the spawning season, and the energy required for spawning may derive from continue feeding throughout the year. S. philippinensis feed on fish and shrimp mainly, with a few supplement of mollusks. The maximum ages estimated for male and female fishes were 4. The age at first maturity for male was 1.45 yr, and was 1.79 yr for female. The von Bertalanffy growth equations were estimated to be =15.97[1-e-0.1779(t+0.7295)], = 47.60[1-e-0.1779(t+0.7295)]3.128 (for male), and = 53.93[1-e-0.1779(t+0.7295)]3.2301 (for female). The population was dominant by age 1 to 3 individuals, with percentage of 36.2%,53.7% and 9.7%, in each of the age classes for male, and 14.4%,41.9% and 41.6% in each of the age classes for female. Male fish older than age 4 was only 0.3%, and 2.0% for female.
