碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋環境資訊學系 / 98 / Global change is one of the focal issues for the century. Education on the subject matter is of great urgency. The purpose of this research is to design an educational material on "Ocean and Climate Change". The environmental changes of the atmosphere and oceans will be used as the main topic for "Climate Change". The material may help students in the 5th grade to develop deeper and correct understanding on the concept of "Climate Change", by exploring the impacts of themed educational activities of the subject matter on students. The investigator conducted the experiment in five classes of students, which consists of one pre-test, two test and two reference groups, with a total of 161 participants, from an elementary school in Keelung. The themed experiment isdivided into 4 topics, which are " Ocean and oceanic currents", "Greenhouse and El Niño effects", "Polar ice and climate change" & "Global warming effect and impact". Students were tested before and after the teaching activities.
According to quantified and substantial analysis, the following conclusion are made: 1) the educational activity, significantly improved students' understanding on the concept and attitude, which proved to be superior than traditional educational methods; 2) after the educational experiment, students' feedbacks and responses show much higher level of concern on environmental and oceanic issues; 3) the investigator profits a lot from this research such as providing constructive benefits for education on relevant and practical topics as well as understanding the importance of media and multi-media.
Based on the results of the experiment, it is observed that educational activities which emphasize student participation, interaction, and topics combined with both natural topics and social concerns tend to have better results.
