The purpose of this research is to discuss the content of National Taiwan Ocean University Students as Remedial Teachers of Disadvantaged Children. inviting 182 for field investigation,and picking 145 effective samples for return The result was analyzed by statistical methods such as mean, standard deviation-test, analysis of cochran Q test, factor analysis. The study came to main conclusions as follows:
1. The motives of being a remedial teacher are, from the most likely to less likely, willing to help others, to get a chance to learn, to earn money, and to find self-fulfilment.
2. The key factor of being a remedial teacher includes “Whether they understand the goal of remedial course” “Can they solve problems with their knowledge” “If they can finish their job on time”.
3. The results of being a remedial teacher includes:The students show more introspection; They will be responsible for their own problem; They can realize meaning of public service and activities; Be more concern Native; Can be share what they’ve learned with friends; Can help people spontaneously.
4. Schools, gender, parents’ occupation, teaching hours per week of remedial course, area, seniority, or the attendance of “service learning” course are not effective factors; while the different grades, the years of teaching in different remedial courses, have been in educational career in the past year, and the attendance of “tutor training” courses are effective factors.
We can provide suggestions to sponsors, executive institutes, remedial teachers and further researchers.
