碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 商船學系所 / 98 / The purpose of this thesis is to propose a practical oriented and concise safety assessments model on port entrance of a large vessel. The criteria of conceptual and testable propositions are considered to induct and select relevant ship's maneuvering formulas. The formulas can obtain and conclude the result from limited and rough data of ship's particular and pilot cards. With the result, a safety assessments model is deducted and integrated accordingly and consequently.
It is to assess the ship’s course keeping ability and whether the stopping distance is shorter than the safety distance. Finally, the model is based on actual cases occurred in Keelung port which is considered the port with the highest risk by captains and pilots. The model not only can estimate the safety on port entrance of a large vessel spontaneously, but also with the transferability to adapt to any ports, and can be used as a pre-alert or references for happened incidents.
