Investigating the Effects of the Navigation Interface of Children’s Websites on User Performance and Satisfaction / 探討不同導覽型式之兒童網站對使用績效與滿意度的影響

碩士 / 國立臺北教育大學 / 教育傳播與科技研究所 / 98 / Children have gradually become a major user group on internet, and the numbers of websites that aim to children user is increasing. However, there is not enough research in the past to investigate the navigation Interface of children’s websites. Hence, 108 children’s websites in Taiwan was served as the research samples in this study to discriminate the type of the navigation interface of children’s websites. In order to provide the best model for development of children’s website design, the purpose of this study is to acquaint the features on the different types of navigation interfaces and the differences of visual elements utilization. The research divides into two phases, including survey and experimentation. In survey phase, researcher acquaints the differences of visual elements utilization on children’s websites in Taiwan by using content analysis. Then using cluster analysis, the result of the study indicated that navigation interfaces of children’s website could be divided into four types: text & frame, graphic menu, scene objects, and exploration. In experimentation phase, this study investigates the navigation interface of children’s websites on user performance and satisfaction. Finally, this study provides the best model for development of children’s website design according the result.

From the mission completion result, the “text & frame” and “graphic menu” type of navigation interface is the fastest and “exploration” type is the slowest. That means using the rich visual element leads to the negative influence to children user. On the accuracy aspect, the result reveals these four types of navigation interface make no difference to children user to complete the tasks. On the satisfaction aspect, the navigation interface types include “graphic menu” and “exploration” is the best type. That means using the rich visual element leads to the positive influence to children user.
