碩士 / 國立臺灣藝術大學 / 美術學系 / 98 / This paper’s concept has its origin in the marine platform of He-Ping Island Coastal Terrain Park. Feeling the power of sea water erosion and inspired by the fluid shapes of eroded rocks, the author has thematically created a series, “Dialogue between the Rock and the Sea. “The marine platform’s three landscapes---the floating feeling of mushroom-shaped rock, the congestion caused by joints, and the color convergence from weathering ring---have all prompted the author an emotional provocation to connect with the subjective space in the piece. In turn, he has discovered an "interactive force:” Marine platform’s interesting terrain is formed by sea water’s downward erosion as well as strata’s upward lift. There is a correlated interaction between the downward vs. the upward dynamics.
The same sense of stalemate, concocted by the artist’s internal sense of conflict, is in the subjective space in the painting. Just as in graffiti art, flat graphics and symbols, through expressive linear representation, has transformed into a lively landscape with spiritual meaning. Also in this series, the drawn lines often represent realistic symbolisms, such as: vacant waves, water marks produced by stones moving in the water, forces of nature in motion symbolized by rhythmical brush strokes. The author’s inner landscape has been induced through the emotional projection on the theme of “Dialogue between the Rock and the Sea”.
