碩士 / 國立臺灣科技大學 / 建築系 / 98 / As China and Taiwan were divided with civil war after 1949, Matsu transformed itself into a military critical point from a fishing village due to military confrontation with mainland China. Both Kinmen and Matsu played the role of two iron fists extending from Taiwan and safeguarded Taiwan. Afterward, the relations between China and two military streamline plans were conducted. With an approval of Executive Yuan in 1999, Matsu evolved to be one of “National Scenic Area” out of a military fortress as a result.
Based upon the relatives, interviews, and field investigations and cross checks, the study will first analyze and clarify the problems faced by the offshore defense post in addition to understanding its historical background, military organizational framework, strategic posture, combat readiness, evolvement of defensive works and local features, and then figure out how the factors such as geographic environments, organization/facilities, operational status brought impacts upon attribution of defense points, buildup of defensive works, allocation and features of space.
