Study on the Formability of Magnesium Alloy Fin Structures under Hot Extrusion / 鎂合金鰭片狀結構件之熱間擠製成形性研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣科技大學 / 機械工程系 / 98 / This research mainly investigates the formability of magnesium alloy structural parts of aviation under hot extrusion process. AZ31 and AZ61 magnesium alloys are used to manufacture a similar structural parts of missile empennage under hot extrusion, at the kind of extrusion, the thickness of section varied severely. The formability discussed in this study, include the influence of different materials, temperatures and extrusion speeds on extrusion loads, mechanical properties, extruded shapes and surface qualities. From the resistance if compression on the wing of extruded empennage, tensile strength on the flange, hardness test and microstructure on product cross section, the optimal combination of process parameters under hot extrusion of missile empennage can be find.
The damage and bending curvature of the product can be explained by the velocity field obtained form the simulation and the unsteady front end shape from the experiment. According to the simulation results and experimental results, an optimal material blow can be obtained to improve product surface quality.
Besides, finite element software, DEFORM-3D, is employed to simulate the extrusion processes of structural parts of missile empennage. The simulation parameters include temperatures of die, dummy block, container and billet, constant friction factor (m) and the stress-strain of characteristics magnesium alloys
Through the simulation, the data of metal flow, temperature and stress-strain distributions which cannot be observed in experiments can be clarified. And from the compassion of experimental and simulation results the optimal combination of process parameters can be found.
To expect the results of this study can be a reference resource for related academic and industry research.
