A Comparison on Enterprise''s Information Technology Capability before and after Implementing Global Logistics Management: A Case of Taiwanese Businesses / 企業全球運籌前後資訊能力之比較-以台商海外佈局為例

碩士 / 僑光科技大學 / 全球運籌管理研究所 / 98 / Since 1990, Taiwanese businesses have gradually scaled up their global logistics dispositions, thus increased their dependence on information technology (IT). Simultaneously, significance of information capability is becoming more important. What would happen to the business information capabilities before and after Taiwanese businesses scaled up their global logistics dispositions? How much improvement of information capability would be made according to the scales of businesses, duration to dispose global logistics, self-developing ERP or not, speed of monthly balancing, business performances and effects of IT input? Are there any common or discrepant qualities? The study is to focus on answering the above two questions.
There are five elements of Enterprise''s Information Technology Capability assessed by “proficiency of new tech”, “team work”, “problem solving”, “client relationship management” and “knowledge management”. Due to Taiwanese international companies developed their global logistics dispositions. This study is executed by questionnaire survey. By quantitative and statistical analysis of survey data, the results are indicated as follow.
1. Taiwanese businesses have improved their Enterprise''s Information Technology Capability significantly after executing global logistics dispositions, and further improvement is expecting. However, we can find that businesses are still have less “new technology proficiency” and “ client relationship management” capabilities, even though “new technology proficiency” is the one area that got the greatest enhancement among the overall businesses IT capability improvements.
2. The enterprises of the bigger business scale, self-developing ERP, and speedy monthly balancing are those businesses that have improved their Enterprise''s Information Technology Capability significantly after executing global logistics and dispositions; while the level of Information Capability of those businesses is similar.
Considering Return on Investment of Information Capability, Taiwanese businesses have slightly improved their information capability significantly after executing global logistics dispositions. This result may occur if the Return on Investment of Information Capability Evaluation Base can not reflect the real status of Information Capability.
