The Relationships among Environment Uncertainty、Entry Mode、Foreign Direct Investment Motivation and Foreign Direct Investment Performance / 環境不確定、進入模式、海外直接投資動機與海外直接投資績效關係之研究

碩士 / 靜宜大學 / 管理碩士在職專班 / 98 / There are many related studies on the subjects of perceived environment uncertainty, entry mode, foreign direct investment (FDI) motivation and FDI performance. However, there are inconsistent conclusions. This study finds that wholly-owed subsidiary, join venture and joint development are the major type that Taiwanese firms enter main land Chain; of which sole investment and equity investment are the most significant, accounting for 80% of Taiwanese foreign direct invest in main land China. Combining the past discrepancies the conclusions of these studies, what types of entry modes should firms select: joint venture or wholly-owned? Which is produces preferable results? In addition, do firms'' investment motivations influence their subsequent operating results? These related studies do not seem to have come to a final conclusion. Therefore, this study selects Taiwanese businesses which engage in foreign investments in China as study subjects. There are 1876 FDI data which gathered by the Taiwanese Electrical and Electronic Industry Association''s 2007 Mainland Investment Environment and Risk Survey as source of empirical analysis. Regression analysis indicates the following conclusions: (1) There is a negative impact on firms'' performance as their perceived environment uncertainty increases; (2) Wholly-owned subsidiary can get superior results to those entering through joint venture; and (3) Seeking resources can get better performance than seeking market.
