A Study on Energy Literacy of the College Students-A Case Study of TungHai University / 大學生能源素養之研究-以東海大學學生為例

碩士 / 東海大學 / 企業管理學系碩士班 / 98 / In recent years, global warming and energy depletion are the world’s common problems, each country increasingly focuses on issues related with green energy and environmental protection. No matter policy, education, or public infrastructure, there exist a wide margin changes. How to promote the environmental protection is still need to rely on entire people’s coordination, at this time, energy literacy impersonates a quite crucial role. Our country actively promoting energy education, and hopes with energy knowledge promotion that could foster entire people’s energy literacy, positive attitude, and look forward to what they have learned could be implemented in their lives.

  This study used the energy literacy scale as a research tool which developed by DeWaters, Powers & Graham(2007), to verify Tung-Hai University students’ cognition, attitude, and behavior performance of energy literacy. This study divided student into two groups, on group of students have taken the “Green Energy Industry Credit Program”, and the other group of students have not take the program, and attempted to find out the difference between these two groups toward energy literacy. The results of this study showed that in terms of cognition and behavior, after the program, students of the experimental group were more significantly better than students of the control group students. On attitude aspect, there had no significant difference between two groups of samples, and both of them were quite positive. On the other hand, by Social Cognitive Theory, this study found that attitude and social support could enhance self-efficacy, and also have significant influence on implement sustainable energy and environment protection.
  Base on the study’s result, attitude were the important factor to influence self-efficacy and enhance behavior, so this study suggested the energy education could focus on the attitude and emotion aspect as a future adjustment direction of program design, and open the learning channels to promote energy issues to the community. In addition, social support were another important factor to enhance individual’s behavior, this study suggested that the government and social could use the mass media and some effective spread channels that can make energy-related information be associated with everyone in daily life. This way also gave individual support and encouragement to foster energy literacy and responsibility of protect the earth!
