Performance evaluation of the aluminum-extruded heat sink for industrial computer housing / 鋁擠型鰭片應用在工業電腦外觀之散熱績效評估

碩士 / 國立臺北科技大學 / 創新設計研究所 / 98 / With information technology progression, there are more and more industrial computer applications have been employed in people day life. Industrial computers are always designed to fit the distinct criteria for various applications. For example, a computer system must be vents-free and cooling-fans-free for the functions of water-proofing, dust-proofing or low noise-less. Therefore, the computer housing is usually made from the aluminum-extruded heat sink for heat dissipation. In this study, the software of Flotherm was used to simulate the heat transfer characteristic of the aluminum-extruded heat sink which was placed on the computer housing. For exploring the heat dissipation performance, the experiment plan has been developed by Taguchi’s method to figure out the best solution. The result shows that A-type (the sink was placed on the top of the computer housing) with the 8mm basement, 1.5mm fin thickness, 5mm fin height, and 5mm interval is the factor parameter combination that has the best heat dissipation performance. It also reveals the “placement type of sink” contributes the highest proportion impact, 53.678%, of the heat dissipation factors, and the following are the "thickness" with 20.392%, the "interval" with 15.154%, the "basement" with 9.141% and the "height" with 1.631%. That means an adapted placement of heat sink is much more effective in obtaining good performance than using a larger size sink.
