It changed the way that be must through the third port before, and not only cutting down the distance from Taiwan to China but also increasing both of the economic benefits of goods. Under the agreement of the specification, the world's major container carriers in the face the changes of important economic markets in East Asia, who will need to reconsider the regional shipping routes and business strategies in East Asia.
In this paper, our own stand of container carriers to explore measures to implement shipping of direct-links across the Taiwan-straits could be induced from the benefits, as well as the realizable probability of the benefits. The experts of academia, the Port Authority, domestic and international shipping industries were investigated by questionnaire. Information obtained would be analyze and rank order by Localized Grey Relational Analysis (LGRA) and Entropy method. Then we could understand various type of viewpoints and concerns of experts.
The results by overall analysis will be found that strengthen the effectiveness of across Taiwan-straits routes to the degree of realization of extend the original scalable business area in China routes is the highest; operation cost effectiveness to achieve the degree of shipping of across Taiwan-straits exchanges could saving cargo cost is the highest; To cooperate with other industry in Taiwan to achieve effectiveness to reduce transport costs is the highest. Above three results indicate carriers will take increase income and decrease expenditure as its main operating strategy. The study is able to be a reference for future operational decision-making to provide container carriers and navigation administration of Taiwan.
