In the whole world, there are many well-known cities which are adjacent to the border between river and sea. They can connect the joint of river and sea with the port city in their tourism industry. Besides the development of international logistics and harbor terminal functions of trade exchanges, simultaneously, Kaohsiung port city possesses the potentialities in promoting the tourism industry by river transportation. Not only can the beautiful landscape be created in both banks of the river, but also it will bring the infinite business opportunities. Consequently, it is beneficial for overall operation of the port city enormously. Findings suggest that Kaohsiung which develops the tourism industry for sightseeing the port city by “Love Boat” can produce concrete benefits. The six items are the real examples of benefits: (1) Improve the urban environmental landscape, (2) attract tourists to come for sightseeing and shopping, (3) broaden the profits of urban business circle, (4) provide residents a leisure space, (5) create urban brand image, and (6) appreciate the value of real estate in the peripheral district. In addition, there are many factors that can contribute to “Love Boat” of Kaohsiung to attract its passengers’ repurchase intentions. However, the three most important ones are: Humanities landscape, service attitude, coast scenic spots. From the findings in this thesis recommendation are made for the improvement in the tourism industry by river transportation and overall operations of the port city in Kaohsiung.
