碩士 / 建國科技大學 / 機械工程系暨製造科技研究所 / 99 / This study experimentally investigated the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics of the pin-fin heat sink fully filled with brass beads under the confined rectangular impinging jet. The air was used as the coolant. The dimensions of the pin-fin heat sink were fixed: 120 mm in length, 60 mm in width and 27 mm in height (not including the spreader), Relevant variables were the side length of the pin fin ( s = 5-8 mm ), the space between pin fins ( gL = 2.66-18.0 mm and gT = 2.85-22.5 mm ), the diameter of the brass beads ( d = 2, 4, 6 mm ) and the jet Reynolds number ( Re = 1099-48543). The pin-fin heat sinks of various pin-fin side lengths (s) and pin-fin interval spaces (gL and gT ) filled with brass beads of various diameters (d) would result in different porous properties, leading the corresponding changes in the behaviors of the heat transfer. The results indicated that, at the same Re, the Mode A1B1 ( s = 6.3 mm, gL = 6.33 mm, gT = 7.12 mm and d = 2 mm ) had the maximum average Nusselt number (Nu). Besides, at the same pumping power, the Modes A4 ( s = 5.0 mm, gL = 2.66 mm and gT = 2.85 mm ), A1B3 ( s = 6.3 mm, gL = 6.33 mm, gT = 7.12 mm and d = 6 mm ) and A4B1 ( s = 5.0mm, gL = 2.66 mm, gT = 2.85mm and d = 2 mm ) had the better heat transfer performances. Furthermore, the heat transfer performances of the Modes A1B3 and A4B1 would be better than that of the Mode A4 when the dimensionless pumping power exceeded 107. It demonstrated that the pin-fin heat sink filled with brass beads had the high heat-transfer potential for the system operated at the high pumping power. Finally, this study provided the empirical formula of the Nu as the reference of the relevant cooling design.
