Improvement of Container Terminal for Automation operation / 貨櫃碼頭自動化改善

Taiwan is an oceanic island and is suitable to develop the transport service of wharf. A competitive wharf can attract the investment of shipping carriers and increase the container throughput so as to create the employment opportunities and activate the overall social economy. With the continuously growing demands of the container transport market, the quantity of containers also grows. There are numerous kinds of people, vehicles and cargoes entering into the gate, thus today’s goals are to improve the efficiency, avoid the loss or substitution of containers, and reduce the industrial safety accidents and working hours. The automatic transport system, multi-model transport system, port network, loading and unloading efficiencies, wharf management, etc. greatly influence the operation performance of the container terminal. Currently, many wharfs have already introduced the RFID passive electronic seal in the container escorting operation in China. To improve the safety of shipping containers, the localized “RFID electronic seal monitoring system” is established. In this paper, through the automatic wharf operation of Kaohsiung harbor in the test run, the storage and retrieval management transport system for intelligent RFID container transportation is discussed and established to improve the competitive force of the container terminal at Kaohsiung harbor.
This study mainly contains the automatic operation of shipping carriers at container port and the improvement of Yard Gantry Crane operation system.
1. Door whistling system of shipping carrier: make use of the integrated operation of RFID, KIOSK and OCR related systems to increase the container
transportation efficiency and reduce the cost of dealers as well as solve the traffic jam, and take out the exported containers from the temporary storage section and move them to the offshore loading area at a fast speed, or seek for the locations of imported and exported containers in the temporary storage section and take them out for positioning control such as entry;
2. Yard Gantry Crane: the diesel power generation is transformed into the power generation of DC battery, and it makes use of converter with space vector pulse width modulation for AC frequency conversion. Advantages: except that it reduces the air pollution caused by diesel, the converter with space vector pulse width modulation can enhance the output line voltage of converter and improve the harmonic current loss. Beside, it can also improve the characteristics of motor speed torque.
