Motivation and Satisfaction of Outdoor Recreation--A Case Study of Matsu Anglers / 戶外休閒活動參與動機與滿意度之研究─以馬祖海岸遊憩釣者為例

碩士 / 銘傳大學 / 觀光事業學系碩士在職專班 / 99 / Due to historical circumstance, Matsu was closed for decades until martial law was lifted in 1992. The islands only opened for tourism in 1994. Matsu National Scenic Area and Lienchiang County government collaborated in promoting and improvements of the sightseeing and the transportation, since then Matsu started to attract tourists. In recent years, the government has been protecting the island’s fishery, thus Matsu fishery resources were restored gradually. More and more anglers are willing to fish in Matsu as a result of plentiful fishery harvest and fast exchange of updated information.
The purpose of this research is to understand the motivation that coast anglers fish in Matzu and the satisfaction of the Matsu fishing environment and service quality. With coast anglers fishing in Matsu as the subject of the study, we conducted a questionnaire survey and collected a total of 303 effective samples by convenience sampling from December 2010 to March 2011. The data was analyzed by using the descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, factor analysis, Pearson correlation and importance-performance analysis (IPA).
The results show as follows:
1. Coast anglers'' basic social and economic background: The majority of anglers are male of thirty one to thirty nine years old, senior high school graduates, freelancer, married with children, living in the northern part of Taiwan and their family income ranges from forty to sixty thousand.
2. Coast anglers'' travel characteristic: Traveling with friends, round-trip transportation by airplane, they have been there at least four times already, staying above three days; this place has been recommended by their families and relatives.
3. The analysis of the leisure motivations of anglers: The order of participation in fishing motivation is “Enjoy the nature”, “Experience the outdoor leisure” and “Be far away from daily trivial matters”. From the factor analysis of the of anglers’ motivations, their motivations illustrate seven different factors: leisure and relaxation, competition, enjoying nature, technical practice, social relations, making accomplishment, fishing for the food.
4. The first three important factors for the coast anglers’ fishing in Matsu are: nature and fish ecological preservation, convenience of transportation, preservation of seacoast environment. The first three factors of the coast anglers’ satisfaction are: the scenery of seacoast, the convenience of lodging, conservation of fishery harvest.

5. Based on importance-performance analysis (IPA), the result shows the needs for improvements in the following areas: nature and fish ecological preservation, sea surface and fishing condition, convenience of transportation, convenience of dining, and shipping of the fish.
The results of the study provide suggestions include: protect the nature and fish ecological resource, improve transportation between Taiwan and Matsu, provide a more comprehensive and high quality service, improve safety of fishing location, use the web to provide complete fishing information.
