Cultural Creative Quarter and Urban Regeneration: The Case Studies of Tianzifang in Shanghai, China and Cultural Industries Quarter in Sheffield, United Kingdom / 文化創意園區與都市活化:中國上海田子坊與英國雪菲爾特區個案研究

碩士 / 國立中興大學 / 科技管理研究所 / 99 / According to the Creative Economy Report 2010, the global trading has declined 12% from 2002 to 2008, however the creative industries maintain the growth speed of 14%. It shows the cultural creative industries effectiveness of whole economy.
Cultural Industries Quarter help urban to get more competitive advantage of culture through reformed the community landscape, extended more cultural facilities due to create more positive influence for urban economy development, such as declined the unemployment rate, decreased the crime rate, enhanced the cultural infrastructure, offered residencies and education, build up the quality of life. Hence, this thesis aimed to realize how to regeneration the city with constructing the cultural industries quarter, It also focused on The Case Studies of Tianzifang in Shanghai, China and Cultural Industries Quarter in Sheffield to do case studies. Tianzifang in Shanghai was one of first authorized creative quarter in Shanghai in 2004. It has awarded the honor of the best creative industries quarter in China, and obtained the reputation of the Paris of the East. Cultural Industries Quarter in Sheffield, United Kingdom is one of the representative of urban regeneration through creative idustries. Its successful development has become a paradigm case to other countries. Tianzifang has attracted a lot creative organizations from more than 20 countries, offered 800 jobs, the government can receive 4 million yuan of tax each year., the average daily visitors during the peak season up to 5,000 people. Cultural Industries Quarter in Sheffield has attracted more than 300 creative organizations, offered 4200 jobs, the people who engaged in creative industries are more than one hundred thousand.
This thesis based on five dimensions which are policy, person, process, place, product to study how the Tianzifang and Sheffield use the mechanism of cultural creative industries to regenerate the broken city. We took advantage of expert interview and second data to gather information.
We found the successful model of two cases which are the creative people need to play multiple roles, cumulative process of the creative atmosphere, enhancing the overall aesthetic benefits of urban creative environment, using creative output to satisfy the social and economic value for residents, tourists, artists.
