碩士 / 國立新竹教育大學 / 數理教育研究所 / 99 / The purpose of this study is to probe into the differences and similarity in contents between the mathematics textbooks in Beijing, Shanghai and Taiwan. This study utilizes content analysis method to conduct the research and select the textbooks according to textbooks usage condition in difference places. Two versions of textbooks from Taiwan and one version of textbook each from Beijing and Shanghai are selected to compare. After two stages of comparison, this study then divide mathematics learning domain into four key subjects which are “Number and Quantity”, “Geometry and Measurement”, “Algebra” and “Probability and Statistics” and study them individually.

According to the analysis results, the major findings of this study are as follows: (1) Overall, Beijing and Shanghai elementary school’s mathematics teaching hours for the First grader to Sixth grader are less than those of Taiwan; (2) Within the category 1 and category 2 of the subjects such as “Number and Quantity” and “Geometry and Measurement”, Taiwan is ahead of Mainland China; (3) Mainland China is ahead of Taiwan in Category 3 in all five key subjects in Taiwan’s mathematics field; (4) Mainland China is “exceeding” in Taiwan in all five key subjects, in “Difficulty” aspect, Beijing exceeds Taiwan by 0.34 semesters and Shanghai exceeds Taiwan by 0.6 semesters; in “Scope” aspect, Beijing exceeds Taiwan by 0.57 semesters and Shanghai exceeds Taiwan by 0.69 semesters; (5) The textbook content which Mainland China exceeds Taiwan are mainly in the textbooks for junior high schools; (6) Mainland China’s textbooks usually give some brainstorming exercise questions in the end of a unit after the basic student exercises questions to enhance students’ thinking level.
