A Study On The Important Factors In Voyage Chartering And Time Chartering Market / 國際散裝船市場選擇論程傭船與論時傭船模式考量因素之研究

碩士 / 國立高雄海洋科技大學 / 航運管理研究所 / 99 / The bulk shipping market is near to a perfect competitive market, it can be influenced by various factors such as politics, economics, military, weather, etc. As a result of high risks and uncertainty. Therefore, bulk shipping corporations have to face drastic competitions. It cause ship-owners and charterers not easily to catch the situation, due to the fluctuated characteristics of chartering market affected by BDI index .
In order to explore related impact factors of Voyage Chartering and Time Chartering models, the study have reviewed some domestic and foreign literatures, and do in-depth interview with specialists in international bulk shipping industries and professional ship brokering, consider the norm of Voyage Chartering contract and Time Chartering contract format, the study use comparison analysis to figure out impact factors of two contracts. Based on viewpoints of ship-owners, charterers and ship brokers, main five dimensions of impact factors were discovered including ship, cargo, freight, contractual relationship and broker’s service and ability. The paper conducted questionnaire survey to collect the real opinions of academic units, bulk shipping companies, shipping agencies and ship brokers, and uses Localized Grey Relational Analysis empirical test on opinions of above-mentioned specialists.
Our findings appears that in Voyage Charter , the most important factor in Voyage charter are“Chartering payment”, followed by “Loading and unloading cargo time”,“Ship-owner’s responsibilities and rights”etc;the most important factor in Time Charter are“Chartering payment”, followed by“Ship fuel consumption and speed”,“Ship-owner’s responsibilities and rights”etc. In fact, no matter Voyage charter or Time Charter, the same impact factor is Chartering payment. Therefore, freight rate is deemed the priority factor from viewpoints of ship-owners, charterers and ship brokers. Meanwhile, our findings could provide some practical suggestions for optional decision on Voyage chartering or Time Chartering model on dry bulk shipping market.
