In recent years, traffic noises have become an environmentally controversial issues. In Taiwan, the land transport system includes road and rail systems. This research evaluated the noise problems on the section between Yongkang and Siaogang, National Freeway to represent the studued road system, and the Wenshan line of Taipei Rapid Transit (TRT) system to represent the rail system. For the road system, the noise deduction without noise barrier and sound-proof windows were investigated. The horizontal and vertical transmission of traffic noise were simulated, and compared to the measured values of nosie. For the TRT rail system, the noise measured along the Wenshan line was analyzed, using two kinds of event last time for intergration.
The results show that the hourly non-holiday noise reduction by highway noisebarrier is between 4.3 and 9.6 dB(A), and the average noise reduction is 6.6 dB(A). In holidays, the hourly noise reduction is between 2.8 and 7.7 dB(A), the average noise reduction is 4.6 dB(A). Therefore, the noise barrier provides a good noise control. The soundproof windows installed on the second to the seventh floors of the studied building reduced the noise volume of 28.7 ~ 33.0 dB(A). For the building nearby the highway, the higher floors receive more impact from the traffic noise. The results of noise measured for in TRT system show that a longer event last time (T) for data intergration will result in higher values of Leq,1h, because of the interference of the background environmental noise. By intergratiy the event last time only during TRT train passing, the measured noise will value reflect the real contribution of the noise from TRT system.
