A Study on How the Applied Ways of Brush Painting in Poster Design. / 書畫表現法應用於海報設計之研究

碩士 / 國立臺中教育大學 / 美術學系碩士班 / 99 / In the era of the busy interaction between the international designs, it has appeared to be a trend of international design for designers to blend certain cultural styles with posters. And besides separating themselves from Western posters, the poster design of calligraphy and painting makes Taiwanese poster design to shine on the international stage. Therefore, as a researcher of calligraphy and painting, I think the traditional creative work of calligraphy and painting is in a dire need of blending itself with modern materials and media. I combine water and ink with design, applying the combination to poster design. One the one hand, this can create the combination between calligraphy, painting and design; one the other hand, via the promotion mechanism, the cultural horizon and depth of media can be broadened and deepened.
This study employs the angle of the expressive forms of calligraphy and painting. First, the poster samples can be divided by their contents of which expressive forms of water and ink will be discussed. By means of document investigation and individual styles, the poster designs of recent ten years are sorted out. And then, the styles of the expressive forms of water and ink are explored. Until now, there are more than one hundred samples of which the themes are Taiwan and which are invited by international poster exhibitions. In addition, these expressive forms can be divided into “the use of ink,” and “the use of pen.” The use of ink can further divided into “expanding ink,” “old ink and increased ink,” “expansion” and “breaking ink.” Also, the use of pen includes “middle pen, sequential pen and turning pen,” “reversing pen and sideways pen,” and “splitting pen.” And the expressive themes can have “portraits of gods and Buddhism,” “portraits of characters,” “flowers, birds, and animals,” and “mountain and waters.” This study mainly focuses on the features of styles of both expression and themes. Moreover, the cultural contents in application of the techniques of water and ink are discussed. Finally, a database of the applied styles of water and ink in promotion design is built up, enhancing the thinking of designers when they are working on transmitting works and cultural art in order to deepen the cultural depth.
