The Effect of Dietary Medicinal Herbal Compound (Xiao-Chai-Hu Decoction) on Non-specific Immune Responses of White Shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) / 小柴胡湯對白蝦非特異性免疫反應之影響

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 水產養殖學系 / 99 / This study uses in vitro and in vivo experiment to investigate the effect of medicinal plant complex (Xiao-Chai-Hu decoction) on non-specific immune response of white shrimp (Litopeneaus vannamei). To determine prophenoloxidase activity (proPO), reactive oxygen species production (ROS), superoxide anion production (O2-), nitric oxide production (NO), phagocytic rate (PR), phagocytic index (PI), superoxide dismutase activity (SOD), total haemocyte count (THC), differential haemocyte count (DHC). In in vitro results, shrimp haemocyte cultured with 0.25~2.5 μg/ml Xiao-Chai-Hu decoction water extract, had significantly enhanced proPO activity; 2.5~12.5 μg/ml Xiao-Chai-Hu decoction water extract, had significantly enhanced ROS production. In in vivo results, diets were added with different dosage (0, 0,25, 0,5 1 %) of Xiao-Chai-Hu decoction powder for 28 days, and detect immune parameters on day 0, 1, 2, 4, 7, 14, 21, 28, 0.25 % treatment showed significantly enhanced of superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity; 0.25~1 % treatment showed significantly enhanced of ROS production, nitric oxide (NO) production and phagocytic rate (PR); 0.5~1 % treatment showed significantly enhanced of proPO activity and superoxide anion (O2-) production.
These results strongly indicate that in vitro and in vivo administration of Xiao-Chai-Hu decoction enhances non-specific immunity responses of white shrimp.
