碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 教育研究所 / 99 / This study aims to survey the opinions of the students about the education developmental objectives and the general education reform at an ocean specific university. We take the example of National Taiwan Ocean University, which is a university with marine professional special features. The method is to conduct a survey on them, and 269 effective questionnaires from the students of the general education courses are involved. And the data are analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA.
The major findings from the study are as follow:
1. The education developmental objectives are agreed by most of the students, especially highly positive with identification of an ocean specific university.
2. Some of the objectives, humanistic and ocean literacy, are not known well by the students.
3. The students’ agreement toward the general education credits is in middle level and accompanied with many arguments.
4. Most of the students agree with the reform the new literacy curriculum .
5. The students suggest that school needs to add more courses, to increase more practical courses , to have variety of teaching methods.
The results can provide some suggestions for Marine-oriented specific universities, and thsose who concern the generation education
