This thesis describes reproduction, sex ratio, size at 50 % sexual maturity and fecundity of Charybdis miles in the waters off northeastern Taiwan. In this study, a total of 1,052 specimens of crabs (525 females and 527 males) were collected monthly from December 2009 to December 2010 at Dasi fish market, Yilan county. These crabs were caught by trawlers at the depth of 100 ~ 200 m and the total sex ratio (female: male) was 1 : 1. Their carapace width (CW) ranged from 26.8 to 89.3 mm, ranges of body weight (BW) were from 4.3 g to 190.0 g. There is significantly difference (p < 0.01) in the ratios of carapace width and body weight between the sexes according to the analysis of covariance. The relationship between BW－CW was expressed as BW = 0.0002(CW)3.03 for males, and BW = 0.0003(CW)2.9494 for females. The mean BW of males was significantly larger than females. Abdominal segment length at 5th and abdominal segment width at 5th of females which sizes larger than 48 mm CW showed allometric growth. The CW sex ratio result indicated females over males at February 2010 and August 2010, males over females at October 2010 by Chi-squared test. Ovigerous females were found in the year. Gonadosomatic index, coefficient of fatness and the percentage of ovigerous females indicate that mature females can be found all the year, and the major breeding season is from September to November. Size at 50 % sexual maturity is 60.5 mm CW for females, respectively. The smallest size of ovigerous crab was 49.4 mm. Carapace width of ovigerous crab were from 49.4 to. 79.7 mm. Brood size of ovigerous female crabs varied widely ranging from 27,572 to 537,155 eggs with a mean diameter of 0.33 ± 0.03 mm.
