碩士 / 實踐大學 / 企業創新與創業管理研究所 / 99 / In view of 2008 financial crisis, many financial institutions collapsed, hence, wealth re-distributed for the wealthy. When facing crisis, a sound strategy helps to avoid disaster or minimize the difficulties.
This thesis compiles documents and data from four large European and US private banks, which experienced the financial crisis, as well as adopts three business management scholars’ competitive strategies, to further analyze these four private banks’ corresponding strategies during financial crisis and the final results. According to our findings, different strategy results in different tempo on asset recovery. During the period of financial crisis, financial institutions in Europe and US are facing liquidity risk, to deal with the uncertainty in the future, many business layoff staff in exchange for sufficient bargaining counter. In the fields of clients’ lending, existing assets, investments on overseas and local bond market, equity market and real estate, most of financial institutions write off the large un-receivables or sold them on very low price. On the contrast, if the funds are sufficient and had no concern on liquidity, then the institutions can retain the original invested assets, keep waiting for economy recovery, once the market getting stable, the asset value will rebound dramatically.
The last but not the least, this thesis adopts Delphi Method, invites 10 experts and scholars to process questionnaires survey. According to the survey results, when encountering financial crisis, in addition to government bailout, banks’ internal resources restructuring and differentiated strength also affect private banks’ asset recovery tempo.
