Variation on a Theme by Haydn, Op.56a / 布拉姆斯《海頓主題變奏曲,作品56a》之作品研究與詮釋探討

碩士 / 東吳大學 / 音樂學系 / 99 / Personality is delivering from at the deepest of heart and makes a show of personal characteristic. Brahms’ works present with his astringent cool-headed personality. In his article ‘Neue Bahnen’, Schumann hinted that it was Brahms. Though his music contains elements of Romanticism, for example, rich harmonies, lyric melodies, basically he composed in Classical style. In the nineteenth century, Romanic music has two main streams. Brahms continues Beethoven's classic spirit. He is such a self-demanding person that completed his first symphony at 43. Before this remarkable work, he composes the first independent orchestral variation, Variation on a Theme by Haydn, Op.56a. The thesis discusses the background of Variation on a Theme by Haydn, Op.56a and how Brahms had high regard for Baroque and Classical forms and show the different way to use the materials to compose this work.
