碩士 / 東吳大學 / 國際經營與貿易學系 / 99 / In recent years, due to the establishment of new banks and foreign banks, making domestic banks too many to excessive competition, the spread of average deposit and loan interest rate of local banks at a historical low and the overall average ROE and ROA of local banks is low, too. Moreover, internationalization of Taiwanese companies, brought huge business opportunities in overseas financial services. Therefore local banks gradually attach importance to develop overseas markets, and expand towards regional banks or international banks. However local banks want to develop overseas markets, the first problem is decision-making of the choice of access to country. The bank establishes the overseas institution far more complex than the domestic branch, because there are different environmental factors such as financial market, laws and regulations, language and culture and so on, therefore in advance of the assessment is very important.
This study sorting out the aspects and quantitative indicators for local banks assess the area(country) of the establishment of overseas institutions , then usd the Delphi method to select key indicators by expert consensus to establish evaluation criteria, and using AHP method calculated the weight of aspects and quantitative indicators to construct a simple, objective, systematic and standardized evaluation model, which provides the efficiency and scientific quantitative analyzing instrument to local banks assess the area(country) of the establishment of overseas institutions.
The results showed：
First, local banks assess the country for establish overseas institutions, the order of importance on the aspects is "market conditions", "financial environment", "economic" and "political".
Second, the top three order of importance on the quantitative indicators is levels of deposit and loan spreads, the economic growth momentum and the Taiwanese financial services business.
Third, based on the results of empirical research, the order of the score calculated by evaluation model is China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Philippines.
