Generation of Hydrogen from Water by Solar Energy Using TiO2 and MnO2 Mixed Nanoparticle Modified Electrode / 以二氧化鈦與二氧化錳複合奈米粒子修飾電極應用於太陽能分解水產氫

碩士 / 大同大學 / 化學工程學系(所) / 99 / Hydrogen energy is paid attention as a next-generation energy carrier in particular. It does not have pollution problems due to water is the clean product of hydrogen combustion. Fujishima and Honda first discovered water splitting on TiO2 electrodes to produce H2 and O2 under ultraviolet light irradiation in 1972. Since then several methods have been carried out to prepare TiO2 as photocatalysts. To shift the absorption edge of TiO2 to visible light and reduce the recombination of the electrons and holes are always the important issues in the photocatalytic reactions. In previous study , we prepared the TiO2 nanofiber electrode by hydrothermal synthesis has excellent photocurrent. Here we changed for sol-gel method to prepare TiO2 and MnO2 mixed nanoparticle under acidic environment to spin coating on Ti foil, and modified the electrode by calcination process. Too high amount of Mn would result in adverse effect. In this study, it have been synthesized through MnO2 and TiO2 mixed with mole ratio be 0.001 in pH1 solutions to 3 coating repeat and then calcination at 500℃. It has excellent photocurrent and Hydrogen generation with the preparation condition at 80℃. Results show that Hydrogen generation 0.71 mL/cm2h promoted to 1.63 mL/cm2h.
