A Study of the Impact on Asia-Pacific Economic Security in terms of the Piracy Problem in Malacca Strait / 從麻六甲海盜問題探討其對亞太經濟安全之影響

碩士 / 國立中正大學 / 戰略暨國際事務研究所 / 100 / Ocean becomes an important medium among international business under the development of economic globalization. Thus, the public character of maritime security is increasingly prominent. The sea line from Malacca Strait to South China Sea, carrying essential energy especially the oil transportation, is an important lifeline at sea to China, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. Therefore, this sea line is closely related to the operation of economic development in the Asia-Pacific countries.
Oil is one of the most important source of energy to support a country’s economic development, so that the security of seaway deeply influences the transportation of oil in the Asia-Pacific countries. If this ocean lifeline were attacked by pirates, the transportation of oil would be interrupted so that the oil trade in the Asia-Pacific region would also be affected, which is directly related to the Asia-Pacific economic security.
