碩士 / 嘉南藥理科技大學 / 環境工程與科學系 / 100 / Worldwide, environmental protection and energy conservation are topics of paramount importance nowadays. Aside from wind power, solar power and water power which are common renewable energies, waste brine could also be a subject worthy of study. Desalination could be a way of solving an emerging problem of shortage of freshwater supply. However, there is a significant environmental drawback associated with the desalination process, namely, the production and discharge of concentrated seawater back into the sea. Other than using waste water from the desalination process as electrolytes, highly concentrated brine from Salter and liquidized fertilizer made from domestic food waste could also be used by the Energy research and development.
In this research, brine was used as electrolytes and applied to the patented rechargeable battery No.M421605 by connecting electrodes and circulating water. Observations have shown that a single piece of carbon and three magnesium ribbons obtained the best result, with a voltage of 1.75 V and a current of 2.3 mA, centralized voltage of 1.86 V and current of 9.5 mA, and the cross-voltage of 1.46 V and with current of 15.8 mA. By circulating the flow rate of brine at 1L per minute, the voltage could increase up to 1.85 volts and 12.6 mA of current, in this manner, power can be generated for more than 8 hours. The raw food waste utilizes the surrounding of electrode, which decreases the pH value of butyric by 0.2 and correspondingly increase the voltage by 0.8V, thus, maximizing the output effect. Furthermore, when the voltage is at 2.0V and the current at 1.7mA, it is already capable of generating power. The research not only proves that waste can be used for generating renewable energy, but can also be a replacement for normal cell batteries, thereby encourages in the reduction of the use of disposal cell batteries and secondary cells. This could achieve today’s trend in reducing energy consumption, lessening pollution, increasing the amount of recyclable materials and the value of renewable energy
