碩士 / 正修科技大學 / 化工與材料工程研究所 / 100 / This report demonstrates a novel design of Microfluidic set up being used to prepare the microspheres and the analysis of the microspheres as well as the exploring of the biocompatible micro-spherical characteristics of sodium alginate and chitosan. The Microfluidic experimental setup is made of tapered polypropylene micro-volume pipette tips being coaxially aligned as micro-fluid channels. Syringe pump is used to control the flow rate, in the meantime, flow rate and fluid shear stress can truncate the liquid to form the droplets.
In this study, microfluidic sodium alginate droplets cured by calcium chloride is formed as calcium alginate composite microspheres. The applications are found to be used as: part (1) heavy metal ions absorber and part (2) drug releaser.
Study of designing heavy metal ion absorber contains calcium alginate composite microspheres being applied to remove the copper, iron and chromium metals in water. Experimental results show that the calcium alginate composite microspheres can be effectively used as absorber for of heavy metal ions.
Drug releaser is consist of using calcium alginate composite microspheres as drug carriers. The release mechanism of theophylline embedded in calcium alginate composite microspheres has been proposed and entrapped when theophylline, calcium alginate composite microspheres were used in artificial gastric juice and artificial intestinal fluid.
