Modeling Growth of Microalgae and Simulation for Cultivation / 微藻生長模式建立與模擬

碩士 / 大葉大學 / 工學院碩士在職專班 / 100 / Microalgae is a great potential for green energy. The supply of carbon dioxide is one of the key factors for cultivation of microalgae. Sodium hydrogen carbonate could be used as the carbon source for growth of microalgae.In this study, sodium hydrogen carbonate was used as the only carbon source in medium without sterilization for cultures of Nannochloropsis sp. It has been shown that Nannochloropsis sp. was able to grow using sodium hydrogen carbonate as the only carbon source in medium. The biomass concentration of culture of Nannochloropsis sp. was up to 1 g/L. Major events for the study as following : (1) In the six combinations, the culture with 12 g/L of sodium hydrogen carbonate and 0.3 g/L of sodium nitrate in medium had the highest biomass concentration and volumetric productivity for Nannochloropsis sp. (2) The kinetic growth model with inhibition effect for was established with sodium hydrogen carbonate as the major substrate for cultures of Nannochloropsis sp. Growth inhibition was observed as the concentration of sodium hydrogen carbonate greater than 5 g/L (0.06 M). (3) The absorption coefficient ε of 0.215 OD-1cm-1 in Beer’s model was determined for cultures of Nannochloropsis sp.Using the Monod growth kinetics and the fourth order Runge-Kutta method to simulate for cultivation of growth curve, as well as the carbon source consumption curve. The initial carbon source concentration and yield affected the biomass production. The maximum specific growth rate and half saturation constant affected the growth rate. For better light distribution, the biomass concentration was not too high, in order to avoid light shielding. The absorption coefficient ε affected the range of light.
