Tibicos has been used as healthy drinks for a long time. People through Tibicos could improve health, and even could be used for medical care to prevent disease. However, the function of Tibicos is not pervasive due to lack of scientific evidence.In this study, we used the Tibicos filtrate as the drink for volunteers, and then compared their healthy condition with the control persons by questionnaire. Based on the result, we then estimate the possibility to develop this Tibicos filtrate as the healthy drinks.
Method:
30 people over the age of 45 regardless of gender has been randomly chosen as the sample to test the feasibility of Tibicos filtrate as the healthy drink. All these samples were the citizens among different districts in Kaohsiung city, Taiwan.The physical parameters of the volunteers after drinking Tibicos filtrate for certain period of time have been measured by OMRON multi-function body fat scales (modelHBF-370) and OMRON Arm Blood Pressure Monitor (model HEM-7011). In addition, they were also requested to fill out the questionnaire to investigate their personal feeling about the Tibicos filtrate. Afterwards, we performed the statistical analysis to analyze the significance of this drink on people’s health.In this study, the 30 volunteers were asked for drinking the brown sugar water for the first two weeks as the control data, and then drinking for last two weeks as the experimental group. Afterwards, they were required to measure the physical change of their body, such as weight, body fat, visceral fat, BMI, body age, blood pressure and pulse. Each volunteer should record for five healthy parameters and answer four questionnaires. Finally, we used SPSS software to analyze these data using pair T test under significant level of 0.05.
Result:
Through SPSS analysis, we found that these30 subjects all had the physical changes after drinking the Tibicos filtrate. The visceral fat index showed a significant difference (P <0.05). The body weight, body fat, BMI, and body age have a decreasing trend, but didn’t show significant statistically. On the contrary, the blood pressure has increased slightly. The pulse is almost had no change.In addition, the subjects did feel their healthy condition improved after drinking the Tibicos filtrate for two weeks compared with the two-week brown sugar drink beforehand. They felt the improvement in several bodily functions, such as inertial of migraine, insomnia and sleep quality, body metabolism constipation, arthritics, obesity, asthma, and blood pressure.
