The effects of algae amounts and turbidity on the dosing rate of piped water purification processes / 藻類含量對於淨水程序中加藥率與濁度之影響

碩士 / 國立高雄應用科技大學 / 化學工程與材料工程系 / 100 / The water quality of water body in Taiwan has deteriorated recently due to the release of abundant pollutant and nutrient, resulting in the river eutrophication. A lot of blooming algae in raw water will reduce the performance of piped water treatment plant. In this research, the data collected from the Won-gon-yeng piped water treatment plant were used to discuss the effects of algae amounts and turbidity in raw water (TRW) on the coagulant dosing rate for inferring the optimal coagulant-added condition.
Statistical data indicated that the turbidity in raw water were usually lower than 1000 NTU. The results showed that at the turbidity in raw water (TRW) was less than 100 NTU condition, the unit turbidity dosing rate (UTDR) increased with TRW, as well as UTDR elevated at a higher algae amount. However, as the TRW increased from 300 to 1000 NTU, the UTDR decreased gradually to 0.1~0.2 ppm/NTU. Moreover, at a high level of TRW, the UTDR was not affected by the algae amount. At TRW < 100 NTU, the turbidity removal rate by coagulation was in the range of 80~100% and was irrelevant to the variation of algae amount. The turbidity removal rate by coagulant raised apparently up to 100% as TRW was in the range of 300~1000 NTU. In addition, turbidity removal rate by filtration ranged between 85% and 100% as TRW was less then 100 NTU and was irrelevant to the variation of algae amount. Besides, the turbidity removal rate by filtration was promoted apparently and kept at 95% as TRW ranged in 300~1000 NTU.
Compared with the relationship of turbidity removal rate by coagulation or filtration processes and the amounts of algae, the result shows that the algae amounts will not affect the piped water purification processes under the well control of turbidity by enough unit turbidity dosing rate.
