碩士 / 國立高雄應用科技大學 / 機械與精密工程研究所 / 100 / In order to investigate the thermal performance of different types of heat sink under non-uniform heating condition, both plate-fin heat sinks and pin-fin heat sinks were tested with a central square heat source having length of 45 mm, 20 mm, 10 mm and 4 mm at various frontal air velocities in this study. The base area of those heat sinks are 45 mm × 45 mm having fin height of either 10 mm or 30 mm. The frontal velocity ranged from 1 m/s to 5 m/s. Both pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient were measured in the present study. Results showed that both heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop of pin-fin heat sink are higher than those of plate-fin heat sinks due to the hydraulic and thermal characteristics. Due to fin spaces is small let’s fluid pass heat sink being difficult. So heat sinks pin100 have low thermal performance. Fin numbers increase pressure drop pronounced augment. Heat sinks increase transfer area thermal resistance having the best thermal performance. As the heat source area reduced, the thermal resistance of a given heat sink was increased resulting from the spreading resistance and heat transfer coefficient variation.
